Why raw speed isn't the actual selling point here

Wi-Fi 6 is often marketed on peak speed, but for a smart building with dozens or hundreds of connected devices, the more important improvement is efficiency handling many simultaneous connections — older Wi-Fi standards degrade noticeably as device count climbs, while Wi-Fi 6 was specifically engineered to manage that density better.

What Wi-Fi 6E adds on top

Wi-Fi 6E extends into the 6GHz band, a largely uncongested frequency range compared to the crowded 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands most devices and neighbouring networks already compete on. For a dense deployment — a hotel, an office building, a factory floor — this extra clean spectrum meaningfully reduces interference-related slowdowns.

Where this actually matters for a project today

For a small home with a handful of devices, the upgrade from standard Wi-Fi to Wi-Fi 6 is a nice-to-have, not essential.
