Why trenching cable isn't always an option
Running fibre or copper between two separate buildings on a property is the most reliable connection, but it isn't always feasible — a completed landscape, a shared boundary with another owner, or a budget that doesn't stretch to civil work can rule it out. Wireless links are the practical alternative in those cases.
Point-to-point: focused and high-capacity
A point-to-point wireless link uses directional antennas aimed at each other across a clear line of sight, delivering strong, dedicated bandwidth between exactly two points. It's the better choice when connecting two specific buildings with a clear sightline and no need to extend coverage beyond that single link.
Mesh: flexible, but shared bandwidth
A wireless mesh network extends coverage across a wider area using multiple nodes that relay to each other, which is useful across a large campus with multiple structures or where line of sight to a single point isn't practical. The trade-off is shared bandwidth across the mesh and generally lower total capacity than a dedicated point-to-point link, which matters for high-bandwidth uses like multiple camera feeds.
