What an air quality monitor actually measures
PM2.5 and PM10 particulate levels, CO2 concentration (a rough proxy for how stale or well-ventilated a room's air actually is), and sometimes VOC levels and humidity, giving an actual number to a factor most households have no visibility into at all beyond a general sense of comfort.
What to actually do with that data
Beyond just displaying a number, integrating air quality data into automation — triggering an air purifier or increasing ventilation automatically when readings cross a threshold — turns passive monitoring into an actual improvement, rather than a statistic that's checked occasionally and not acted on.
